Our permanent campuses enable us to establish a lasting presence in neighborhoods, forge partnerships, contribute to communities, build trust, and develop a positive reputation with families. Unlike traditional public schools who inherit their school buildings, charter schools like KIPP SoCal independently acquire, maintain, and fund our facilities.

Over the past decade, the Palms Motel, located in between two of KIPP SoCal’s South Los Angeles schools —KIPP Empower Academy (TK-4) and KIPP Academy of Opportunity (5-8)— exposed thousands of our students to incidents of crime, drug paraphernalia, and sex trafficking. In 2022, KIPP SoCal acquired and demolished the motel and began to reimagine this space on South Figueroa as a place of peace, safety, and enrichment for the children and community of South LA.
